Meet Miss Nellie Brown - will she become an Iron 'Ore?

Nellie's "kind of wistful, kind of sad" look is all to do with whether she'll be doing the right thing . . . going on stage in front of all those people in The West Australian Spiegeltent, and possibly laying her soul bare . . . Will she survive???

You won't know unless you book now for THE IRON 'ORES at www.fringeworld.com.au

PS: While nervous about her first Fringe World appearance, Nellie has confidentially told us that "it's always so refreshing to have a nice warm hand on my entrance."

Another red donga sighting . . .

There have been a number of red donga sightings in the past 48 hours.

The one featured below is VERY RED . . . It's actually five LITTLE RED DONGAS. Each window represents a donga.

It's incredibly moving to think that these modest accommodation units can inspire such depths of passion, such as those brought to the surface in the song MY LITTLE RED DONGA, the lyrics and melody of which is currently touching hearts (and other organs) globally, proving that one should never underestimate 'a little red donga'.

If you're in Perth, Western Australia, on the 3rd or 4th February 2014, you'll be able to hear MY LITTLE RED DONGA sung live in The West Australian Spiegeltent during the 2014 FRINGE WORLD FESTIVAL.  It is one of several original compositions being performed in a show called THE IRON 'ORES.

Will MY LITTLE RED DONGA become an Australian classic?

Yes, this is question on loose lips as excitement surrounding THE IRON 'ORES grows. MY LITTLE RED DONGA, an affecting and somewhat sentimental ballad, will be publicly heard for the first time in THE WEST AUSTRALIAN SPIEGELTENT in THE PLEASURE GARDEN during the FRINGE WORLD 2014 Festival on the 3rd and 4th February.

With ukelele accompaniment (Matthew Mitcham eat your budgies out!), MY LITTLE RED DONGA will undoubtedly not leave an eye dry, such is its lyrical beauty.  Will it be another FROM LITTLE THINGS BIG THINGS GROW?  Those in the know think it will be.

For those unsure of what a red donga is, this is an example:

What is an IRON 'ORE? Is it the same as a PILBARA PRINCESS?

Yes, this is a question that has been bandied about on the verandahs of 'dongas' across mining camps in Western Australia's Pilbara for some years now.  Indeed, it's been the subject of intensive post-doctoral research in a number of the world's leading universities.

For now, the question must remain unanswered . . .

You see, the nature of an IRON 'ORE (and whether a PILBARA PRINCESS is the same thing) will only be revealed in THE WEST AUSTRALIAN SPIEGELTENT during Perth's FRINGE WORLD Festival on the 3rd and 4th February 2014.

But, in the image above, do you feel we have:
  • 4 Iron 'Ores (or 4 Pilbara Princesses)
  • 3 Iron 'Ores (or 3 Pilbara Princesses)
  • 2 Iron 'Ores (or 2 Pilbara Princesses)
  • 1 Iron 'Ore (or 1 Pilbara Princess)
  • no Iron 'Ores? (and no Pilbara Princesses?)
Your responses are, of course, most welcome and we will forward them to the research institution in question. But we suspect the findings will be suitably equivocal.

We hope so because, as we all know, talent is always in the eye of the beholder.

Anxious times as cast members await December 12 launch of the 2014 FRINGE WORLD programme

Yes, the official launch of the programme for FRINGE WORLD 2014 isn't until 12 December, 2013.

Some of the stars of THE IRON 'ORES are getting a touch anxious as they prepare to be "born in a tent" on the 3rd and 4th February 2014 @ 7pm. You'll be able to witness it all for as little as $25 (if you're in a group of 6 or more), otherwise it'll be a bargain at just $30.

Of course, all this is strictly HUSH HUSH until the official launch.

By the way, it's rumoured that one of the original songs in the show is titled MY LITTLE RED DONGA. For the uninitiated, a 'donga' is a prefabricated and transportable accommodation unit used throughout the mining world. Please, DO NOT GET CONFUSED with an image on the Sistine Chapel ceiling. That's a Michaelangelo (or, in this case, one of his more adventurous imitators)!
